Better Portraits for Everyone
Welcome to my blog. My goal is to make the portrait experience more fun and rewarding for everyone. Experienced and specialized pros, who have made their living from children’s photography for many years will get a lot out of this. This is also for photographers who just want to take better pictures of their friends and family or parents who want better results when they go to the photographer of their choice.
You will not learn “everything you need to know” here. This is not a substitute for training or years of experience. Some of it will be obvious. It may help to think of the obvious in a new way. I have improved my own work when training others. It is useful to stop and think about how and why we do what has become habit. Having to explain something to someone else does this.
There is no one style or look that is “right” in photography. What I have to offer is not the only way to photograph people. It is what has evolved over the years. What I do today is very different from what I did in the 70’s. This is just about what I have learned in more than forty years
Although I have done quite a bit of everything in the wedding/portrait field this will be mostly about children, newborn through kindergarten. This has been my specialty for more than forty years. It is what I do well.
Sometimes there will be some technical stuff but mostly this blog is about working with children and their parents.
This will be about making people comfortable and avoiding some of the things that don’t work well, things that lead to conflicts.
